Superia ICD-10 Migration Service
The 5010/ICD
10 mandate poses a major exigency for all stakeholders in the
healthcare industry. Providers
and Payers have
to comply with
HIPAA 5010
standards by 1st January 2012 and
ICD-10 by 1st October, 2013.
With the ICD-10 transition approaching, you may be wondering what will
change in your practice.
The ICD-10
transition affects everyone covered by the Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act (HIPAA), even those who do not submit Medicare claims.
If
you are a provider, here are a few of the many areas where the transition to
ICD-
10 will affect your practice:
• More
codes. Codes will grow from 17,000 to 140,000, but remember that
you
only need to know the codes that relate directly to your area of specialty
and/or those
that you use
most frequently. Code
books and styles
will
completely change. More
detailed knowledge of
anatomy and medical
terminology will be required.
Physicians, nurses, and billing and coding staff
will
all need to be trained on the new codes.
• Updated policies and
procedures. Any office policy or procedure tied to a
diagnosis
code, disease management, tracking, or PQRS must be changed.
• Medical
record documentation.
ICD-10 codes will
better reflect the
specificity already inherent in the
patient’s medical record. Physicians will
need to continue to document the
patient’s plan of care to include laterality,
stages of healing, weeks in
pregnancy, episodes of care, etc. Other health
care professionals will also need to
continue to document patient information
with
specificity. This will also include the old documents generated using ICD-
9 to facilitate a cross walk.
On January 1, 2012, all electronic claims must use
Version 5010, and anyone covered by HIPAA must use ICD-10 diagnosis codes for
services provided on or after October 1, 2013. To be prepared for both of these transitions, you should begin planning now if you haven’t done so
already.

Superia Assessment and Blueprint
Preparation Service
Business Assessment:
We build and
validate your migration
strategy by aggregating information
for each of
your organization’s business
processes, prioritizing the nature of impact across People, Process and
Technology.
System Assessment: The
impact on software
applications can help
us to understand and comprehend
the business impact. We will carry out an iterative, detailed technical
assessment on your applications to identify the critical as well as non-critical ICD-10 impacted components.
Blueprint
Preparation: In this phase, we develop a detailed project plan with release
planning and release
scheduling based on
business need prioritization. Using effort
estimation results, we also develop a resource and release plan and assist in
forecasting the budget
allocation for the
various migration phases presented
in the form of a detailed dashboard.

Superia ICD-10 Mapping Services
After compliance is achieved, maintaining smooth business functions and
continuity is a top requirement, demanding
precise mapping to be in place.
Most of the
businesses use out-of-the-box tools for Mapping. However, it only provides
one-to-one mapping for only 80% of the codes. The challenge is the remaining
20% of the codes with one-to-many alternatives, and can give rise to uncertainties in a healthcare organization’s
processes, data, and systems.
This is where
mapping customizations come
into play. Customized
mappings narrow down the one-to-many options
between ICD-9 and ICD-10 and provide the closest ICD code match. Our domain
experts and consultants will derive the most optimal mapping approach that
promises to cover the tangential elements of each business area’s
implementation plan so that your organization can take advantage of cross-functional collaboration opportunities.
Superia ICD-10 Translator
Translator provides
rapid, accurate bi-directional translation
and side-by-side
comparison while keeping the risk, scope
and cost under control. As a translator, it
allows healthcare organizations to function in dual mode where both old
and new
codes can be used with confidence. And as an
intelligent engine, it does much more
than translate.

Key Features:
Forward and Backward Lookup-Serves as a
look up to find the ICD-10 code for a particular
user-entered ICD-9 code and ICD-9 code for
• entered
ICD-10 code, thereby
supporting both forward
and backward
mapping
facility.
• Data Analysis- Establishing
equivalence between ICD-10 and ICD-9 requires
making a
choice from a list of possible combinations and in many of the
complex mapping cases the clinical nature of the options would be very
similar.
• Section Mapping- It provides a facility to
map a category of ICD-9 codes to a
category of
ICD-10 codes. It provides a facility to look up the best category that can be
used for the existing ICD-9 category.
